Enhance Quality of Life for Home Care Service Users through Diverse Psychosocial Activities
Home care service users often have weak physical conditions and limited self-care abilities, which also restricts their social interactions. In addition to providing basic daily support such as meal delivery, household cleaning, and escort services, our Society has expanded the elderly’s social networks and strengthened their community connections through a variety of psychosocial services, enhancing their overall sense of wellbeing. This year, we organised a range of activities at our day centres, including talks, workshops, outings, and volunteer events, offering different learning and experiential opportunities for both the elderly and their carers. These initiatives encouraged them to keep pace with the times and improve their quality of life. We also actively collaborated with external organisations. In addition to corporate volunteer services, we participated in the “Caregiver Support Project 2.0”, sponsored by the “Simon K.Y. Lee Elderly Fund”, to enhance social workers’ ability to assess and support caregivers.

Promote Holistic Health for the Elderly, Connect District Network and Create an Elderly-friendly Community
The Kowloon City Centre for Active Ageing is dedicated to enhancing the holistic wellbeing of the seniors and carers through six dimensions including physical, psychological, social, spiritual, cognitive and environmental aspects. In addition to offering members opportunities to try newly emerged sports, the centre participated in the “Jockey Club Community eHealth Care Project” funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. The project adopts an innovative approach to enhance health management and mental wellbeing among the elderly, while encouraging them to establish regular exercise habits. We are committed to supporting elderly carers, providing psychological, emotional, informational, and social support. The centre also actively develops services for men and volunteering opportunities, promoting elderly participation and potential development.

Support the Elderly and Carers in Using Technology to Maintain Social Connections and Functional Abilities
Utilising technology to help the elderly maintain social connections and functional abilities has become a key direction in modern care. Through innovative technology, we effectively promote seniors’ physical and mental health and encourage active community participation. For example, the introduction of electric stair climbers enabled the elderly to move safely between floors, boosting independence and confidence, and encouraging greater involvement in activities and social integration. Interactive game systems and cognitive training devices provide engaging games and experiences, fostering cognitive training, improving reaction times, and enhancing social interaction, allowing the elderly to build relationships through play. These tools not only improve quality of life but also relieve carers’ stress and strengthen family relationships.

Raise Public Awareness and Support for Carers’ Needs
Our Society implemented the Elderly Carers Support Project to raise public awareness of the needs of elderly carers and to recognise their contributions. This year, the Society held the “Elderly Caring in Modern Generation” to explore how cross-sectoral collaboration can support families with elderly carer facing social changes. We also organised the “Support Elderly Carers” Recipe Design Competition, with sponsorship from the Eternal Love Volunteers Team of Henderson Property Management, compiling winning entries into a recipe book for elderly carers. These efforts aim to draw public attention to the needs of elderly carers and rally support for them.
