Nurture Mental Health, Promote Positive Mindset

Throughout 2024 - 2025, our six Integrated Family Services Centres delivered 12 sessions of “Heart Delight" Unified Protocol Cognitive-behavioural Groups. Employing novel, clinically validated cognitive-behavioural therapy techniques, these groups effectively alleviated depression and anxiety symptoms of participants. They have gained insight into emotion-triggered physiological responses, thought patterns and behavioural tendencies, enhancing stress resilience while reducing long-term negative impacts of emotion-driven behaviours.

To improve participants' mental health, our Mental Health Enhancement Programme (MHEP) continued offering diverse activities such as “Connecting with Nature and Spirit“, “Singing Bowl Meditation“, “Sand Art Workshop“, and “Five Steps to Happiness: Positive Mindset Workshop”. Large-scale community education events were also featured to help participants improve their self-care competencies and emotional processing skills, including “Hypnosis Uncovered” and “Pressed Flower & Gemstone Soap Workshop”. Specialised Therapeutic Groups covered a variety of themes, for instance, “Embracing the Inner Child”, “Immersing Yourself with Watercolour”, “Everyday Mindfulness”, “Tea Art Session”, “Relieving Stress with Kalimba”, and “SoulCollage® Year-End Gathering”.

Empower Men, Value Holistic Health

Since July 2023, with the support of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, our Society has launched a three-year service project for the “Jockey Club One Stop Service for Men”, providing diverse and innovative services for men and their families. We are grateful for the enthusiastic support from men across different districts; over the past year, services have been provided to 1,264 men and 1,028 family members. In addition, we organised 142 sessions of seminar, 28 sessions of community exhibition, 438 sessions of life education group, 72 sessions of therapeutic group, 70 sessions of family activity, 38 sessions of volunteer activity, and five regular mutual support groups for men. These initiatives not only helped participants relieve stress arising from family, work, daily life, and health, but also facilitated the early identification of those in need, strengthened mutual support among men, and fostered a spirit of care for the community, thereby building a support network for them.

Support Families in Crisis, Stand Together through Adversity

Since 2017, the Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation has sponsored our Society to implement the “Family in Crisis Support Project”, providing one-stop emotional and financial support services for families with young school-aged children who have lost their main breadwinner to sudden death or serious illness. The project supported 122 new family cases and granted financial aid to families in need, helping to alleviate the pressures they face, for the year 2024 - 2025. Five family outings were organised during the year, allowing volunteers and families to enjoy quality time together. Volunteers also made three festive visits, showing care and gaining deeper insight into the families’ needs. In addition, five women’s mutual support group activities were held, enabling women to care for themselves while caring for their families. We firmly believe in journeying alongside families; every act of care and support is like sowing seeds of hope, helping crisis families through difficult times and gradually restoring vitality to their lives.

Mitigate Violence and Harm, Create Harmonious Families

Since October 2018, with the support of the Social Welfare Department, the Society has launched the “Peace Campus – Support Programme for Enhancing Peaceable Relationship”, providing support services to individuals suffered from intimate partner violence and children who have witnessed family conflict, helping them to cope with family violence and raising public awareness. During the year, we collaborated with various primary and secondary schools and social service units, providing anti-intimate partner violence programmes to 46 participants and children’s programmes to 51 participants. We also organised four family bonding activities, 11 community education seminars, and 26 service promotions, achieving positive results. The project has enhanced participants’ awareness and skills in handling conflict non-violently, enabled children to learn how to manage negative emotions and respond to family conflict, and improved family relationships and communication.

Unite in Child Protection, Support Growth and Development

With the passage of the “Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse Bill” legisation on 11th July, 2024, it will come into effect on 20th January, 2026. Child abuse cases, whether identified immediately or after a long delay, undoubtedly caused harm to children’s physical and mental wellbeing.

The Society has always prioritised family needs and children’s wellbeing. Since October 2022, we have launched “Child Protection In Action”, adopting strategies of “early identification” and “early intervention”. Together with parents, educators, and members in the society, we promoted messages of harmonious families and child protection, working hand in hand to create a child-friendly community. During the year, the project organised 14 teacher trainings (for primary schools and pre-primary institutions), 59 parent groups / workshops, 46 children’s groups / workshops, and 22 parent-child groups / workshops. In November 2024, as part of our Society’s 75th anniversary celebrations, the project featured two booth games - “Puzzle of Love with Children” and “Twist to a Good Mood” , to share positive parenting techniques and stress-relief methods with the public. The events were lively and well-received. All activities throughout the year received positive feedback from participants, raised public awareness of child protection, and provided a safe environment for children’s growth.
