Promote Intergenerational Inclusion through Financial Education, Financial Board Games for Families and Tech-Enhanced Learning for the Elderly

The Financial Education Centre (FEC) upholds the vision and mission of “Managing money with hearts, for every generation we guard”. By employing engaging tools such as financial board games, parents and children naturally learn about money matters through play, seamlessly integrating financial education into daily life. Over the past year, FEC has also deepened its focus on financial education for the elderly, offering a series of courses on fraud prevention, electronic payments, and retirement planning. Youth have been trained as bridges for elderly financial education, promoting intergenerational integration. The aim is for all age groups, the elderly, adults, youth, and children to have access to financial education, empowering them with financial wisdom to support life choices.

The “Financial Differences Across Generations” life simulation game, organised under the “HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Programme”, enabled participants of different ages to role-play family members and experience financial challenges faced by the elderly and carers
At the “Hong Kong Jockey Club Financial Education Programme” Parent-child Board Game Workshop, nearly 30 families came together to enjoy the Forest Financial Force 2.0 board game
Commissioned by the Labour and Welfare Bureau, we helped organise and deliver courses for the elderly under the “Elder Academy” covering retirement planning, consumption, electronic payments, and fraud prevention, thus enhancing their financial management skills

Promote Grandparent Appreciation and Sustained Carer Support through the Education and Support Project for Multigenerational Families and Exhibitions

The Women and Family Enhancement Centre launched the fourth phase of the Multi-Generation Family Education and Support Project, introducing the Grandparents Appreciation Movement. Through home-school collaboration, the initiative provided young children with character and values education, fostering a culture of gratitude within families and recognising grandparents’ contributions to the next generation. The “Be the Powerful Partners for Elderly” initiative trained over 30 secondary school students as “Community Ambassadors” to visit the elderly and carers, learn about different forms of care, and document their experiences through photography. The “Stories of Care Giving for the Elderly” narrative photography exhibition at Central Market showcased these stories and images, giving the public deeper insight into the voices of the elderly and caregivers.

The Grandparents Appreciation Movement provided thank you cards to young children, encouraging them to acknowledge and express love for their grandparents’ daily care
The Multi-Generation Family Education and Support Project launched the Grandparents Appreciation Movement, with teachers leading character and values education. Children’s messages of thanks were displayed in a Grandparents Appreciation Corner in kindergartens
After training in photo storytelling, over 30 junior secondary students from Lingnan Secondary School and Clementi Secondary School became “Community Ambassadors”, visiting seniors and carers in Yiu Tung Estate, to document their stories and showcase various forms of caring
The “Stories of Care Giving for the Elderly” exhibition showcased photographs alongside with Care giving Mailbox, inviting visitors to write blessings and gratitude for carers on postcards that were delivered to carers in Yiu Tung Estate to offer encouragement
