Youth Services

Service Highlights

Our youth services, including school social work services and integrated children and youth services, are delivered in line with our “family-centric” perspective. The Society provides stationing social work services to 40 secondary schools, as well as offering a wide range of projects programmes to meet the diverse needs of young people. In addition, the ATAA Jockey Club Tseung Kwan O Youth Square provides integrated children and youth services in the community and school social work services to three primary schools. This year marks the Youth Square’s 25th anniversary, with the theme of “Dreams”, encouraging young people, parents, and community members to pursue their dreams and to remember to “recharge” themselves when facing challenges.

Harness Community Synergy to Strengthen Youth and Family Mental Wellbeing

Officially launched in May 2024, the Jockey Club Embrace Life Series 2.0 - Power T.A.G. Project aims to enhance the mental wellbeing of young people and families, strengthen their inner resilience, and foster a growth mindset. By mobilising diverse community resources, the project designed a variety of activities for young people, families, teachers, and community stakeholders, realising the outcomes of “Transformation, Actualisation and Gratification”.

After ten months of self-exploration, event planning, singing training, and public performances, the community ambassadors showcased their ideas on stage through the Power On Community Ambassador Scheme 2023 - 2024 - Power On Music Show
Students enjoyed a light-hearted and entertaining balloon performance and had the chance to dress up in balloon costumes, making lunchtime on campus a joyful experience
A group of parents who have completed the “Mental Health First Aid Course” under Parents Action Support Scheme (PASS) promoted the mental health of young people and family members, and organised volunteer initiatives related to mental health for the community

Enhance Information Literacy Among Youth, Parents, and Supporters

Over the past year, we organised more than 150 activities to enhance families’ information literacy and promote family harmony, serving over 20,000 service attendances. Through cross-disciplinary collaboration, we provided both online and offline educational activities to help families tackle digital challenges. The “Learning Together with Family” initiative has effectively improved information literacy, encouraged healthy internet use, strengthened family bonds, and advanced the course of information literacy education.

Cognitive behavioural therapy delivered through activities helped students develop healthy gaming habits

Harness the Power of Mediation Education to Promote Harmony in Families, Schools, and Communities

Funded by the Quality Education Fund, the “Fun Conflict Resolution - Peer Mediation Project” aims to foster mediation education in schools and promote the concept of “Mediation Schools”. The scheme enhances students’ self-awareness and interpersonal relationships, ultimately creating positive and reciprocal effects among peers, families, and schools, and fostering a culture of harmony in diversity.
In addition, the “Jockey Club Happy Family with M.E.” introduced the “Mediation Education Interactive Theatre” for the first time, combining elements of drama education to promote mediation in an engaging way. The script was adapted for school tour and performed at various primary schools, spreading the message of mediation.

Career Planning Beyond the Classroom through Real-World Experiential Learning

The Project “Ignite”, funded by the Youth Development Commission of Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, continued its provision of services in 26 secondary schools. While helping students explore their interests and providing information on further studies and career opportunities, the project also enabled students to step into the community and experience first-hand operations and requirements of different industries. This helps them understand social development trends and explore their own future directions.

Students participated in internships across different industries, gaining in-depth understanding through observation and hands-on experience
Guided by social workers, students plan a market event from scratch, ranging from product design to marketing strategy, experiencing the challenges of being an entrepreneur
Guest speakers from a range of industries shared insights on career prospects and their own career journeys, encouraging students to consider their own future development
Students visited various colleges and workplaces, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the realities and requirements of different professions

Nurture Self-Compassion Ambassadors to Enhance Youth Wellbeing

The “Me-Fullness: Self-Compassion Project” continued to be implemented in secondary schools, nurturing students (including those with special educational needs) to understand the concept of self-compassion and become ambassadors. Through this project, they have mastered skills for managing stress and emotions, practise self-compassion in daily life, and enhance their sense of wellbeing. By organising large-scale school activities, the ambassadors also promoted the attitude of self-compassion to others.

The three elements of self-compassion including self-kindness, common humanity, and mindfulness were taught
Participants understood the concepts of self-compassion through art creation activities
All art creations and students’ reflections, consolidating group learning outcomes, were showcased
Self-compassion ambassadors hosted a mindfulness tea tasting booth at school, promoting the message of self-compassion to fellow students
