Being Recognised as a “Manpower Developer” by the Employees Retraining Board (ERB)

The Society has been recognised as a “Manpower Developer” by the ERB since 2016, affirming its outstanding achievement in staff development and training.
The Society participated in the Good Employer Charter 2024 (GEC 2024) and was awarded the Certificate of GEC 2024. The Society also accredited by the Panel of Judges as effectively promoting family-friendly employment practices and was authorised to use the “Supportive Family-friendly Good Employer” logo for two years (2024 - 2026).

Conduct Diverse Activities / Workshops for Staff

The Society actively organises a variety of staff activities, encouraging colleagues to bring along their family members in practice of our family-centric perspective. In 2024, the Human Resources Department hosted 22 staff activities, including DIY spectacles frame workshops, Pilates reformer classes, Cantonese dim sum workshops and personal colour analysis workshop, involving a total of 220 staff and their family members. In addition, we sponsored 40 staff and their family members to join the “Kerry Hong Kong Streetathon 2024”, further promoting family health.

Personal Color Analysis Workshop

The Society leveraged its resources to support employee’s participation in both internal and external training initiatives. This year, a total of 82 internal training programmes, covering a wide range of theories and skills of professional intervention, were organised for staff at different job levels. The training activities received positive feedback from participants, with an overall average rating of 5.27 out of a 6-point scale. 97.3 percent of attendees remarked that these training programmes have fulfilled their expected goals, reflecting satisfaction with the quality of the training provided. To support service development in meeting emergent challenges, the Society also launched a series of training, such as

  • “Effective Communication Skills for Handling Complaints and Concerns” training workshop,
  •  “Clinical Supervision on Handling Couple Dynamic”,
  •  “Study on Mindfulness for Home Care Service” and
  • Training on "Using Apps to Organise Outing Programmes”.

Organise Staff Orientation Day

Regular staff orientation days were held to enhance new staff members’ understanding of the Society’s history, mission, vision, policies and services, helping them integrate into our organisational cutlure and develop a sense of belonging. Additionally, based on specific services, relevant induction courses were provided for newly recruited social workers to cultivate their understanding of the “family-centric” perspective and equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective service delivery.

Support Staff in Continuing Education

This year, the Society provided subsidies for 341 staff to attend external training programmes, covering up to 239 different specialised areas. A total of 734 days of study leave were granted for their educational pursuits.
