Maintain Couples’ Relations

How to strengthen couple’s relationship through festival?

Some people say "marriage is the end of love," believing that after getting married and establishing a stable relationship, couples can easily lose interest in each other due to various changes and compromises. They may even lose the romance and passion they had originally.

However, for many couples, marriage is the "sublimation of love." They remain sweet and affectionate even after getting married, making others envious. This can be attributed to their efforts to communicate, connect, and learn how to live with and support each other.

After marriage, couples create a new family and take on various responsibilities and duties, including work and domestic chores. They may also have to take care of their elderly relatives or raise children, which adds further to their responsibility.

During festivals, such as your anniversary, birthdays, Valentine’s Day and Christmas, couples can take this opportunity to sublimate their relationship in several ways:

1.      Recall memories of your dating days and have a deep talk

On the day of the festival, you can recall the sweet memories before you got married and reminisce about your love. For example, you can enjoy a private dinner on your anniversary at the restaurant where you used to eat before, or revisit the place you went together when you were dating. Take a walk and take photos, recall the romantic moments, open up to your partner to improve your relationship.

2.      Create sweet moments for the couple alone

Forget your worries and enjoy your time alone with your partner. Go overseas for a trip, as if it is another "honeymoon," where you can forget your troubles and enjoy your date together. You can also take couple photos with your beloved and create happy memories together. Alternatively, you can watch movies, cook together, or take a walk on a beach.

3.      Uphold the “sense of ritual” and surprise your partner

Give your partner a little surprise! Especially on Valentine's Day, wedding anniversary, birthday, Christmas and other significant days, prepare a romantic dinner, a planned activity, or a small gift. It doesn't necessarily have to be expensive or grand, a simple card, a bouquet of roses, or a delicious homemade cake can add intimacy in your relationship and let your partner feel your affection for them.

4.      Take the initiative to express your love and affection

Although we may not get used to saying "love" out loud in the Chinese society, on the occasion of festivals, you can take the courage to express your love to your partner. Say sweet & love language words like "I love you" directly to your partner or via WhatsApp, or use your physical language like hugging, holding hands, or kissing, to make your partner feel sweetness, warmth, and togetherness.

Improving a relationship requires your mutual efforts with your partner. You need to care for each other, support each other, and accompany each other, face the ups and downs of life together, and share new experiences. This helps maintain a happy and warm relationship, even in the face of difficulties.
